West Haven High School (CT)
Class of 1963
50th Class Reunion, August 23, 2013

As I pen this blog, I am saddened by the fact that I will not be at my 50th class reunion at Biagetti's Restaurant in West Haven Connecticut.  This will be the first class reunion that I will miss, and it's a big one!

50 years, that means I and my classmates are at least "pushing" 70.  Which also means that at that age anything can happen, which did.  My husband, Bob, wrenched his neck and between that and the drugs he's on to alleviate the pain it was not feasible for us to drive to Connecticut at this time, and we did not want to fly.  Besides, the cataract surgery I had in my left eye last week did not go so smoothly so I'm still doctoring for that.  Boy, are we all getting old.  But at least some of us are still above terra firma!

When I called Judy Michaud tonight with the bad news I asked her if there was a Facebook page or blog about our 50th, and when she said "no," I thought I'd create one to help us keep in touch and make it easier for us to find each other for our 55th, should we have one.

When time permits (our daughter, her husband, granddaughter Salem [2 years], dog and 2 cats have moved in with us from CA and will be moving into their house by October) I will post some pics from our old class book, perhaps with info on what's happened to those innocent young faces of 1963.

If y'all send me a little bit of info about your life I'll be happy to post some of it onto our Class Blog.  Perhaps something like this:

Judy Jamieson Burgarella.  Married 43 years to Bob Burgarella (who lived on Saw Mill Road in West Haven), 2 daughters - Tracy 41 years old married living in Phoenix, and Robin 37 years old married with one 2-year-old and currently living with us - moving into their new house in October.
Moved from West Haven in 1977 to Clinton Connecticut, then to Sebastian Florida in 2005.  Retired from running a Secretarial Service in Clinton, and for 8 years now owner/partner of the Artists Guild Gallery in Vero Beach, so have fulfilled my dream of becoming an artist ( www.burgarellaart.com ).  See me on YouTube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcLf7ACVaJk
Life is good in Florida, and now that some family has moved down here it's even better.
Classmates may email me at judithburgarella@gmail.com or bjburgarella@bellsouth.net

Big hair, drawn-on eyebrows, lots of make-up ... so funny.

So have a drink and a dance for me Friday night, I'll be thinking of you and wishing I was there.  Judy Michaud said she would try to get me the list of classmates to post on this blog.  If we get to know each other a little better over the next 5 years won't it be fun to finally reconnect?  If someone wants to do a Facebook page that would be nice also, however although I have a Facebook page I actually don't do much with it as there is way too much chatter for me.

Here's hoping we stay in touch ... till 2018 at our 55th!

Best regards to all my classmates
(especially my cousin and Class President John Jamieson and his lovely wife Dariel)

PS - Special remembrance to my dear friend Helen (Willman) Talamelli, who passed away little over a year ago, August 13th, 2012.  She was my very first childhood friend and I grew up with her in my life.  Her passing was a great loss to all of us who knew and loved her.
